We have started with the construction of a wooden log house in The Netherlands. This house is located on an island. It is a small island, actually a very small island. No roads, no bridges, no heli-port. We can only get there with a boat.
Today was unloading day. Our first truck arrived from the factory, and we had to:
- unload the truck
- put the stuff on a barge
- sail to the island
- unload again.
The barge was a forty tonnes heavy lifter, so two trips with the barge was enough to get all our materials across the water. Still it takes a lot of time to move a truckload of materials, it took us the good part of a full day. In two weeks we will receive another truck, with doors and windows, insulation and cladding, and then maybe we will need a third truck, we will see.
The weather was nice, the spirit was good. The owner of the house had coffee and cake.
After unloading we checked the foundation. No worries, the foundation guys (Van Arkel Bouw) had done a good job, all ok.
Tomorrow we will start with the assembly.
