Project On An Island – VII – Roof

While the cement guys are busy with the floor heating and the cement top layer, we continue working on the roof. This house gets a metal roof. Metal roofs used to have a somewhat mixed reputation. Cool and techy, but also a little, well, shoddy.

No more! Nowadays metal roofs are cool and hip and techy. They are epoxy-powder coated (like your car), long-lasting and good-looking. You see them everywhere in The Alps in France, Germany and Switzerland, and they are also very popular in Scandinavia. We use a system made by Ruukki, from Finland.

Optionally it comes with an integrated gutter system. Our client intially ordered just the roof, thinking that he would do the gutter system with a local contractor. Seeing how nice the Ruukki roof looks, he changed his mind and ordered the gutter system as well from Ruukki. So we have to send some extra materials for the gutter. No problem, we’re flexible.
