Since we are working all over Europe, we meet people from different nationalities and different cultures all the time. It makes our job much more fun.
Here we are unloading a truck. The truck driver speaks Polish, our foreman speaks Lithuanian, but together they speak Russian. We speak French with the Manitou driver who also happens to speak Polish, and we speak English with our client and German with the architect. Six languages on one building site, that’s Europe for us.
The French need a lot of talking and preparing. They talk and discuss, then discuss it again. Lunch is from 12 to 2 no matter what happens. But once they they start, they work very fast and efficient.
The Lithuanians and the Poles work at a very steady pace, and they make long hours. Starting at 5 in the morning and then keep going until 9 in the evening, no problem for those guys.
And the Italians? Well… the Italians take their barbecue to the building site. Always good to have some Italians on the project.
